A mother, looking for something that didn't exist yet.
An atelier for children’s occasion wear · Made by hand in Surat · Charmi & Utsav Shah

A small atelier in Surat, making occasion wear for children in numbers you can count. Nothing is cut until someone asks for it.
Charmi Shah wanted to dress her own children — Ziva and Meer — in something genuinely unique and beautifully made. She looked everywhere, and kept coming up short.
So she began designing the clothes herself, one piece at a time, for two children who had no idea they were the beginning of anything.
02A Mother's Eye
In Surat — the country's cloth city — fabric is never the limitation. Charmi selects every weave herself, and as a mother she knows which are soft enough for a child's skin.
Each piece carries quiet, functional details: room to move, to run, to be a child — without ever giving up on beauty.
03 · The NameKachche dhaage — raw threads.
Not yet woven into who they'll become. We named the atelier after children, not cloth.
A child, like a thread, is still forming — and what you give them now stays woven through a lifetime.
04The Makers
Charmi designs and makes. Her brother Utsav keeps the atelier running — the fabric, the orders, the promises about dates. Two threads, one intention.
